| Alan Hogan is a visual artist born in Ireland and now based in Finland. Art was always a favourite subject from a young age at school and he continued to be interested in it for many years afterwards. After graduating from the College of Marketing & Design in Dublin in 1990 he left his desire to be a visual artist on pause and spent several years working as a compositor and print plate-maker in the Irish print industry. This allowed him to continue part-time as a artist while having a steady income at a job he liked. |
| Many years later, an opportunity came to move to Finland and begin a new life. Working in the print industry had become tiresome and monotonous and he felt the need to be more creative, hence his decision to paint again. |
| Since moving to Finland in the summer of 2007 he has reignited his passion for the arts and become a full-time artist, establishing his own small company and holding exhibitions in unlikely and contrasting venues from a summer café to a large event hall! |
| Nature is his greatest inspiration and this is reflected in a lot of his paintings. His paintings are bright, colourful and positive on first view. But some may also contain a hidden sense of melancholy, a characteristic to which the artist wishes to suggest secretively. |
